How many connections can a 802.11b wireless router handle?

I'm going to be living with 11 people next year and am going to be setting up a wireless network in the house. I have already tested to make sure that the router will cover the house (and it does, with mostly full signals everywhere), but I'm a little worried that the router might not be able to handle 12 connections.

Will an 802.11b be able to handle 12 people? Most of them won't be doing heavy downloading or anything like that and, if they are, it will rarely be simultaneously.

B will struggle, upgrade to G if possible. Wireless is like a hub, it's shared bandwidth, so each person is going to get about 1Mb/s. Going to G ups the pipe to 54 Mb/s
