I have a laptop and a desktop, and one copy of winXP, am I allowed to install it on both machines?

Second, you're still only allowed to install as many seats as you've purchased licenses for.

JMaster, the technical answer to your question is no, you're not allowed to install on two machines according to the EULA.

Now, "allowed to" and "can" are different things. And that's all I have to say about that.

you can install it on as many machine as you want. millions and millions. BUt you need to activate it.

Actually, I think you can legitimately install the same copy of WinXP on a desktop and a laptop. Reasoning behind it is you are likely using one or the other, not both at the same time.

You're confusing two things.

1-2 cpu means XP pro will run on a single proc or dual proc machine. To run on a three- or four- way machine you need the server products.

Not true.

Read the EULA.

The EULA for Office products allows this. The EULA for the OS products does not.

well, knowitall, if you were a beta tester for XP, you got an edition that does not require activation, hence you can put it on "multiple" systems
