how many claritin tablets can you eat? I've taken two already and allergies are still killing me.

Instructions says take 1 per day but I can barely function, running nosy, watery eyes, sneezing no stop ... so I took another one, no help.

Can I take more or should I just go get something else during lunch?

i asked the same thing the other day. today i'm stacking benedryl on top of claritin, if i still don't get results i'm going to look into getting a perscription.

i usually use claritin d (when I can still find it), and it works fairly well.

I'm allergic to benadryl... i usually break out in a rash if i take it.

Try a different kind of antihistamine. I would suggest against diphenhydramine, however, as that stuff works great as the active ingredient in some sleeping pills, but is just mediocre as an antihistamine.

Claritin and the like have always been "prevention" medications for me - take them as soon as you wake up, every day , and you *might* not have horrible allergies that day.

The only thing that ever works for me once my allergies get full-blown, out-of-hand, is a megadose of Benadryl. Then the inevitably delirium and crash that follows.

Claritine sucks....they never worked for me.

Edit: Actually....Tylenol Allergy works better for me than any of the prescription drugs have.

That's true--if you already have symptoms when you take Claritin, it's not going to help. Take a regular dose of Benadryl for short-term relief and hopefully your Claritin will kick in. Of course, keep in mind that Benadryl will pretty much knock you out--take a sick day.

Personally, I prefer Allegra, which I buy from Canada.

Claritin works ok for me. It usually takes mass doses to get it going early in the season like now, but I ususally go back to a pill a day or so after about a week. Allegra worked well for me in the past, although I think that is still perscription only. Actually, I should go get a bottle of that instead. With my co-pay it should end up being cheaper than the over the counter stuff.

Actually, when the FDA decides that a prescription drug can be safely used without a Rx, the drug can be sold OTC.

Of course you're all cowering behind your protective smileys, so you're probably just kidding.

do what i do, i have a bucket of claritin, zyrtec, and allegra.... i alternate them, seems to work most of the time except this year... we do have a very bad season with all that %$#@ in the air. so i might have a good day here and there....

Did you try Benedryl? Its more powerful.
