When I did chin-ups in army tests, 10 was considered "good" and 14 "excellent". I can usually do about 10, but never hit 15. There's no "supposed" number common to everybody. Some are natural chinup monsters and can do 20 without much trouble. Obviously being small and light is an advantage.

Experts seem to agree that you just have to do more chin ups, high volume, constant good form (no kicking, squirming, etc., feet locked together, chin must always go over the bar). So if your max is 5, don't do 5 because that will tire you. Instead do many sets of 3. Or ladders: 4-3-2-1, etc. You want plenty of recovery time between sets, and don't start a rep you can't finish. Whatever helps you put out many clean reps total.

When I do chin-ups (as a supplemental movement, after benching), I usually aim for 25 total reps in the session. I pick a recovery time and rep count I think will get me there, while keeping the rep count as high as possible. For instance, I could do five sets of 5 with 2 minute rest.

And hands curled towards you (chin ups) are generally a little easier than hands curled away (pull ups). They work the same muscles but pull ups will shift a little focus from your biceps to lats. Then wide grip pull ups will use your lats even more. Don't jump right into wide grip though.

Maybe 15 or so. Never really tried to be honest. But I can do 12-15 dips with a 45 pound plate strapped to me. So I would assume I could do 15 or so chin ups.

I only do sets of 5 so that I dont tire out. Ill do them on my back day and also leg day. Never really tried to so how many I can do in one shot though.

Pull ups I shoot for 50 total. First set 30, 1-2min rest another 10-15 followed by 10.
Lately between pushing them to the end of my workout at the tail end of a very long day (I usually hit the gym 8:30 -10Pm) at the end of a long week. I've been squeezing out 20\10\10\5\5.
Also, the amount of time I spend on pulls up depends on the quality of ass the girls on the tread mill are carrying since the pull up station is ideally placed for viewing.

Chin ups (close grip) I can do 30\20\10\10 but generally don't bother.

For reference, I'm 5'9 188-195lbs
