As in, let's say a really fat person takes a knife to their stomach, cuts out the lard, weighs a pound of it.

Someone eats it.

How many calories did they just eat?

~3,500, IIRC. It's somewhere in the 3 thousand range.

Well..

There are 28.34g in an oz. There are 16oz in a lb.

There are 9 calories per gram(I think that should be right)..

So there are about 4080 raw calories in a lb of fat?

Not sure if the kind of fat(pig, cow.. human..) changes it or not.

A pound of fat is 454grams times 9 calories per gram = 4086.

But asking this question about human fat seems pretty ill-advised.

Why is this sick? Its perfectly understandable for a person trying to lose fat. It can be used to calculate how much of a calorie deficit is needed per day to lose weight. Its around 3600 calories if i remember correctly.

But a pound of fat is not all fat. It's about 10% water. All of our body tissues--fat, muscle, bone, skin--contain some water. And water has zero calories.

Then why wasn't the question 'how much of a calorie deficit would I need to lose a pound of fat?'?

While phrased in a grotesque fashion I understand the intent. The accepted number is 3500 cal/lb.

read the OP, it isn't about losing fat

"takes a knife to their stomach, cuts out the lard"
"someone eats it"

I've become so tired of excercise and diet, I'm going to stop eating.

It is possible.

Since you're supposed to consume 2000 calories a day, I suppose that means the body uses 2000 calories a day.

Therefore, I will lose a pound every 2 days. 3.5lbs a week. 10 weeks for 35lbs.

However, cutting your daily caloric intake back to a lower level, and mix it with moderate amounts of exercise isn't that difficult. :)

Good luck with that. You'll end up really sick or dead as a result but it's your call chief. :(

Tell me starving africans aren't skinny.

Tell me Mary Kate isn't skinny.

Health going bad because I'm a fatass or health going bad because I don't eat anything is all the same. At least I'll feel better about myself.

Now, since 3.5lbs a week is not acceptable. . . how many miles would one have to bike to burn 5000 calories.

If I can somehow burn 7000 calories a day and eat nothing, success!

fasting won't kill you (for a while anyway), if you keep taking vitamins and drink much water. as long as you don't do it for more than 1-2 months

ha ha.. that reminds me of Office Space
how did the quote go:

dude 1: We're going to an occupational hynotherapist... He helped my wife lose weight
dude 2: She's Annorexic
dude 1: Yeah, he's good!

It's insane to even think about it. Most people (that I know of) who fast do it for 1 day a week and they do it for spiritual reasons. He said 10 weeks to lose 35lbs., that's not going to be very healthy.

Well again the quoted figur efor a man is 2500 calories. For a woman it is 2000 calories. So you'll need to up your numbers a bit.

3.5lbs a week will be tough going unless you eat REALLY REALLY poorly and really cut it up nicely. Then exercise like a freak. 2-3 weeks will be easier but to get the same results after about 5 weeks will be dam near enough insane to be losing 3.5lbs a week still after 5 weeks!
