How many calories in a pound of baked bacon?

on the back of my Costco bacon package, it says 1 serving = 2 strips of fried bacon = 80 calories.

1lb = 16 oz = 16 strips = 8 servings
8 x 80 = 640 calories

but thats frying bacon in it's own bacon grease.
how many calories for baked bacon in the oven? (google says 2500 calories?! WTF?!)

then 1 strip = 40 calories, the same as in my OP.

there are 16 strips in my 1lb package.

This value is 2 slices and it is 80 calories per 1/2 ounce serving. Therefore, 1 lbs = 16 oz = 32 servings = 32 * 80 = 2560 calories.

Well, that can't be right because about every gram of protein is ~4 calories. Considering bacon is probably 60/40 protein fat (fat is ~9cal per gram), there's no way that package is just 640 cals. I mean, one pound of pure protein would be at least 1600 calories.

You are going by slices or pieces, which is stupid. Go by weight. 16 oz of bacon is over 2000 calories.

Are you sure you don't have turkey bacon?

Big difference between eating raw bacon and cooked bacon. Much of the calories is cooked out in the form of grease so what is left weighs next to nothing, like 1/4 of the original weight.

So as per the label 1 serving of "cooked" bacon is around 80-100 calories.

Just don't drink the grease.

Would be about the same though likely a little less. In my experience (I like crispy bacon) that even fried there is not much oil retention.

I fry it because that way I have something to fry my eggs in. Nothing better than eggs fried in bacon grease.
