Just finished a bottle of Chateau de Viud LaLande De Pomerol... wondering how many calories/carbs/etc. a bottle of red wine has?

Thanks

When cali can make a good bordeaux let me know.

Eitherway, the french do know their wines and wine making. Not being a snob, but it's just a varietal difference.

One of the judges, Odette Kahn, tried to get her ballot back at the close of the event. Spurrier declined to provide it after which she refused to speak to him, except to charge that he had falsified the results of the tasting. One of the winning winemakers, Warren Winiarski, received letters from people in the French wine business telling him that the results were a fluke. In essence, their letters argued that "'everyone knows' French wines are better than California wines 'in principle' and always will be." As recently as 2005, some of the judges refused to discuss the tasting, saying that to do so would be "too painful."

You can claim to not be a snob, but the French certainly are.

Werd. I've never had any good wines from Cali any recommendations? (Red). I actually think the wine from Porto that I had was better than the French ones...wish I could remember the name...

if you are counting, you shouldn't be drinking.

anyways, the "New World vs Old World" argument is moot; everyone has his/her preference, just let it be.

Here's another site.

Or here's 150,000 others http://www.google.com/search?client=ope...+1976&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Google all you want. I'll trust my taste buds and direct experience.

Are you drunk off your overpriced, inferior French wine?

Ok, that was a little over the top. Every region has different nuances but to claim French wine is inferior is ridiculous. Try a good beaujolais and tell me it's an inferior wine.

Personally though, I prefer South American (Chile & Argentina), California, & Australian reds.

I know we had this argument before, and Descarte will be on your side.
but any pinot from Santa Rita Hills and Carneros region will beat an equally priced Oregon pinot, anytime, anyday (um, and most importantly, imo). Not Oregon Pinot are bad, they are just way tooo pricy.

did you just say beaujolais? I tried a Beaujolais Cru (from Morgan, if you must ask) and it still taste like diluted grapejuice.
You could have said a Village-grade red Burgundy, Meursault, Sancerre, Northern Rhone or anything and even something from the Languedoc region.... but a Beaujolais???????

anyways, there are inferior French wine, just as there are inferior one from Napa Valley. (I tried a Cab from the famed Stag Leap District, and it was utterly horrible.... way too tannic and dry)

The real experts, have tested, retested, and confirmed that California > France.

But for some reason the poster above is pulling and Odette Kahn and denying that this ever took place.

Guess it really depends on my mood. My wife recently picked up a decent beaujolais and we drank it last night so it was last on my mind. My personal tastes generally lean toward Chilean merlots.

WHO CARES WHAT THE HELL EXPERTS THINK?

I like Italian Chianti Classico wines the best, experts can kiss my ass.
