Remember, I am running 2k and that is where my troubles are occurring.

Well that's what surprises me. I can't understand why Windows 2000 would handle Internet Explorer windows in such a strange way. The ability to kill off one window while leaving the others untouched is obviously the best way to do it.

So, if you have 2 instances of IE running, can you determine that from this window?

Yes, by simply using the window's title. If I'm not sure I click on that window on the task bar to bring it to the front and verify that it's the correct one.

Again, I am curious if you can tell which 'windows' are 'connected' to which IE when you have more than one instance open.

Each Internet Explorer window ends with a " - Microsoft Internet Explorer". Usually I don't even need that to identify it because the first part of the title makes it obvious who the window belongs to.

Jeff Lynn said it best: "it's Strange Magic". I can't believe it either - shut down 1 rouge window and it shuts down that instance of IE and all the windows connected to it:disgust:

Oh, well, I'm just destined to having several IE's running and eating up my memory:frown: At least when that 'undocmented feature' locks up a window, I only lose that one window:)
