I hit a wild turkey the other day on the way to the lake. The damned thing just started flying right in front of me, didn't have any time to stop. Lucky it didn't hit the windshield. Put a hole in the POS grill of a ford business truck, though.</end quote></div>

Ouch. I've only ever seen one turkey dead on the side of the road. My brother almost hit one on his motorcycle. I think that was the last time he ever drove it. Scared the crap out of him.

my mom and her hubby were riding a harley up in north az and an elk jumped over their front end. if he hadnt already beenn slowing down for a chunk of stuff in the road he would have hit it and killed them both. pretty intense when that stuff happens, most ive seen i a ton of feathers in my face from a bird trying to ride my front tire. people behind told me afterwards that the birds were flying under my bike over and over, like a game in between my tires. ive seen the same thing with mini vans that have luggage racks, they woop down and go under the rack bars. pretty weird to see.

Curious, in my ten years of driving, I've only hit one bird, and that was last week.

Hit my 2nd bird last week in 20 yr of driving, and I've been noticing more close calls and dead birds. Probably just the impending Apocalypse or something.

I've only hit 1 and that was about 2 years ago... Guess I've been lucky...

I hit a pigeon (flying rat) in mid flight. He/She was traveling the same direction and just randomly swooped down in front of the car. Don't think he died, but was probably hurt considering I was traveling about 75mph

I only hit one hard enough to inflict damage. Whenever I hit a bird they seem to get pushed over my window but fly away unharmed. Last year I was driving across Nevada doing about 100 in the desert. Sure enough this bird got in my way, but instead of being rushed over my windshield, I clipped it with my windshield wiper and took out some feathers and left a nice blood stain on my windshield. I was impressed.

Hit my first one this weekend, less than 24 hours after picking up my new car. Freshly washed & dried & 2 miles later I nailed a bird.

Lots. Hit a huge owl back when I was 16. Have hit more in the past three months than in the previous 23 years combined. Don't know what it is this year. Yesterday I hit a little yellow sparrow, a couple weeks ago I hit a flicker (a kind of woodpecker). I've probably hit over 5 birds in the last few months.

Non avian kills include a big mouse (rat?) that ran under my tire a few days ago, quite a few chipmunks/squirrels, a possum that I turned to aerosol format, and a coyote that ran out of the brush alongside the road near my house and under my tire. Ka-THUMP.

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that has noticed this recent suicidal bird phenomenon.
