Until May of this year, which would be almost eight years driving, I had only hit one. Since May, I've hit four.

I'm beginning to wonder what is going on. Isn't this rather strange?

How many birds have you hit while driving?

I've hit a few, usually galahs around harvest time (grain on the road from the trucks), and a few crows when it's wet, and they think they can still be smart and wait until the last second.

Best was a galah at about 140kmh. The little dude basically exploded, and bent my numberplate round the front bumper ;)

I was beginning to think there was some kind of bird conspiracy and they were trying to kill me or something.

I'd feel bad.....Galah's are beautiful looking birds....at least the one time I hit a bird it was a crow...nasty fvcker cracked my windshield...was also traveling about 80mph(130/kmh) on the freeway

however....given that Galahs are everywhere in aussie....they are probably like crows to you guys :p

I keep having close calls with birds about 5 feet away from my windshield, I actually did notice this in the past couple weeks.

Yeah, pretty much ;)

I would have felt bad, but he was clearly instantly dead, and my numberplate was all bent.

I hit a wild turkey the other day on the way to the lake. The damned thing just started flying right in front of me, didn't have any time to stop. Lucky it didn't hit the windshield. Put a hole in the POS grill of a ford business truck, though.

Ouch. I've only ever seen one turkey dead on the side of the road. My brother almost hit one on his motorcycle. I think that was the last time he ever drove it. Scared the crap out of him.

My wife called my F150 "bird killer". I have hit all kinds of birds, including a crane. :(

I used to try to hit big crows on the side of the road.

Then one day, I hit one doing about 110 KMH in the WINDSHIELD. There was a massive bang and feathers all over.

I got lucky the bird didn't go right trough.

That was the last time I tried that.

I'm not trying. They keep flying out in front of me at the last second.

This reminds me of the time my dad hit a pheasant. It did a pretty good number on the front of the car and cracked the windshield.

Only one, a pigeon. Got him with the pointy fender corner of my old '91 Nissan Pickup (which is long gone as well, now).

I had a bird hit me while I was on my motorcycle. I saw it coming and tried to slow but the bird was on a sucide mission ( sparrow terrorists). I damn near crashed and felt like I was punched by a prizefighter!! Had a friend on a bike that had a turkey hit and crack his windshield.

I've hit only two that I know of. It's kind of funny because all I hear was a small thump on the windshield and see a couple of feathers, then I looked in my rear view and see a puff of feathers floating to the ground like confetti. I wouldn't expect the bird to fare too well after that encounter.

I hit a bird once...it looked like he was trying to just go at the last second...as I saw him waiting on the shoulder , then as I got closer he darted across and he nailed my windshield and skidded off...poor bastard.

I hit a deer once too, the bastard jumped up as I hit him too, so he only hit my windshield and slid off into a marsh a good 50 feet away....I was in wisconsin at night on one of those back roads...north western part of Wisconsin that is....so it is darker then you can imagine. I hit him in my jetta and stopped to see what exactly happened and where he went, I must have been going 40 mph or so .... (curvy road around a lake) and I swear to god, the most redneck person I had ever seen in a pickup pulled up behind me and said 'I have hit a few deers this weekend too' and he pulled his shotgun out and shot him (little deer was staggering away--so he must have been hurt).... I just left. That was last summer.

dunno, probably at least 1.

i've hit 2 deer, one i broadsided, did a nice number on the front end of the car. the 2nd ones i just nicked with the front passenger side. cracked the light on that one. that was shortly after the 1st deer i hit.

i think a rabbit ran into the side of my tire once because i saw it run across the road, i heard it hit me, but there wasn't a body.

Shot it out of mercy or out of jerky?

in your entire lifetime...If you have hit more than one flying bird... while Teeing off with a 460cc titanium driver and a callaway golf ball...

you need to stay inside during thunderstorms....
