how many bbq's come in a 20lb propane tank.

Anyone have a rough estimate? I think ive done about 10 -15 on this tank and i dont want to run out.

I think it might depend a bit on how long you grill for. ;) And as an engineer I am laughing at your units of [bbq/tank].

what, bbq/tank is in standard si units. Im sorry if i dont know the conversion factor. But i do about an 1 hour at a time.

20lb tank should be good for a lot more than 10-15 cookouts. Yes you can check the tank by lifting, if its near empty it will be pretty light

Its liquid propane. It liquidfies and is thus heavier than air when filled up. it gets lighter after each use.

No, propane gas is lighter than air. But in a tank it is compressed and in liquid form and is much heavier than air

Yes, which is why you have to tether your BBQ as you get near the end of the bottle.

didnt you guys notice the propane exchange place is always chained to a store or something? keep them from flying away.

i thought it got less heavy, due to the high pressure in the tank.

edit - and to the fact that judging by the posts below, propane is heavier than air :)

# of bbqs per tank always ends in 1/2. Because you run out 1/2 through cooking the last bbq in the tank.

Get a second tank.
