How many bank accounts do you have?

I was just setting up direct deposit for yet another bank account and it got me wondering how many the average joe has. Of course this is AT, so hardly average. But me, I have 4 (technically 5 if you count the required credit union saving account I have to have). Yup, 4 checking accounts. The most recent I just set up with the bank that holds my car note so I could pay the bill online. Direct deposit is being split across three of the 4 accounts. The 4th is just a "savings" checking account to use BoA's keep the change scam. 🙂

How many do you have?

Edit: I suppose since you're all lumping investment accounts in, that puts me up to 6 (7).

1 checking account, but I have multiple investment accounts in a few different places.

KT

Edit: bah, sorry dude.

Bank accounts? One. By that I mean I only deal with one place. At that bank (credit union actually) I have what they call "sub-accounts" that are savings, checking, money market, etc but they're all under the same account

1 national bank account
1 local CU account
1 internet bank account
1 investment bank account

so yeah i guess 4 would be the number if you count the investment account

1 local bank
3 investment bank
2 swiss
4 in the caymans
6 shell corporations to launder
and 2 in the name of Rusty Shackleford for an emergency

Two savings
Two checking

One of each of them is at my hometown that I kept open with like $50. I could probably close them since I'm not planning on moving back, but I haven't bothered.

The only one I really use is my checking at a local credit union. I get 1.31% interest which is not too bad considering.

I have 3:

1 Spending Checking Account
1 Bill Checking Account
1 Savings Account

I put a budgeted amount into the spending account each month. I put the expected Bill amount in the Bill Checking account each month. The rest goes into savings.

I keep a $500 to $1000 buffer in the first two accounts so that I don't have to manage them to the penny. This has worked out well for me since I'm lazy and don't like to over-manage my checking accounts.

1 primary checking (me) -bank
1 joint checking/car loan (me and the wife) -credit union
1 savings/mortgage (me) -credit union

3 total right now. I'll be opening a new checking account with the last CU listed next week.

3 local B&M Checking accounts
1 Checking account in another state
1 Internet savings account
2 local B&M savings accounts

3 accounts, a savings (which is more used as a checking, and is where all my money goes to and from) an online savings (higher interest) and a US account, which I use for investing money. Once our dollar goes higher I'll put some money in there, but I emptied it out around the time the economy crapped as our dollar also crapped, so I made myself 600 bucks that day.

I might change that around once I'm in my own house and paying bills though. As of June 26h I'll officially be a home owner. Can't wait. 😀 Lot of repairs to do before I actually move in though.

I think there are 2-4 that I had at one time and never closed, but none have anything in them or are ever used.

Other than that I have 1 that I use occasionally for cashing checks. It has no money in it however.

So I'd say my answer is 0.

1: Checking.

Whenever I get enough money to make it worthwhile, I'll look at getting a savings account again, though with the present interest rates, I'd need to have a pretty hefty sum deposited for the yearly interest to be enough to buy me a whole 2L bottle of soda.

Two checking accounts - one that I was forced to open at Wachovia and another that has been my primary account for more than 15yrs.

six investment accounts

1 checking with national bank, 1 savings with internet bank, 1 day trading account, 1 long term investment account, 2 401k investment accounts
