How many Amps am I drawing?

I am going to a LAN and I am deciding between a high power seat (3.6A) and normal seat (3A) I have no idea what my computer draws. Anyone have any advice? specs below:

ASUS Rampage Formula
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Corsair 1000 watt PSU
4x2gb Corsair DDR2 1066 Ram
2xRadeon 4870x2 Crossfire
Western Digital Raptor 150 GB HD
Western Digital VelociRaptor 300 GB HD

Probably.

115V * 13A = ~1500W @ ~80% efficiency = ~ 1200W max = 1kW PSU

115 Volts = Wall outlet
13 Amps = spec sheet
1500W = max wall power draw
80% = spec sheet
1200W = max power out
1kW = PSU rating.

That being said, it's asking if your computer draws 350W or 425W from the outlet. I'll let the math people handle the rest.

The only way to really be sure is to measure it yourself with a Kill-A-Watt or similar. I'll bet that your PC draws something like 4 or 5 amps when fully loaded.

A basic Kill-A-Watt meter generally runs around $20 at any home improvement place (Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc) and will be the most reliable method.

There are probably a number of online calculators that'll do the work for you though.

If by "work" you mean "give a ridiculous overestimate", then yeah. :awe:

OP, don't forget to include your monitor in your power consumption. That outlet needs to power everything unless they specifically say otherwise.
