How many A64 users really use cool N quiet?

I'm trying to decide if I should use it or not.
Does it really work?

It does work, you can run CPU-Z and watch the CPU speed and voltage upshift and downshift on-the-fly. I left it disabled, though... it's a case of "where do you go from up?" since it already runs about as cool and quiet as makes any difference to me. If I were going for a hyper-quiet rig then I might reconsider, but the noise floor only gets so low when you've got a 15000rpm SCSI drive in there 🙂

Contrary to what mechBgon said many users said they use Cool 'n Quiet and said it kicks into fifth gear (so to speak) almost unnoticeably. That being said (and as I am also a quiet nut) I would leave it Enabled so that it will use less power when doing non resource intensive taks and the system will turn off unneeded fans to reduce noise.

With summer coming around here in Texas I plan to make sure Cool n' Quiet is on and my United Device is turned off. During the so called winter we had I hardly used it.

I leave it disabled, it causes audible pops/clicks during audio playback on my M-Audio soundcard when enabled.

Is cool n quiet labeled "Advanced power management" or APM in the bios?

Should be labled Cool & Quiet or CnQ or whatever simialar form. APM may be a requirement for CnQ to work correctly though.

Both APM and/or ACPI I think
