i am so glad to live in the us of a.
Well, as far as the death penaly is concerned, we're no better.
Do you know what we have in common with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Nigeria and Pakistan?
We're the only nations in the world that will execute someone who was a minor at the time the crime was commited - So, we really shouldn't be criticizing.

my mom used drugs when she was a teenager. Why should I be rejoicing that people are being killed for it? Since when did life become so cheap?

Life isn't cheap and I don't think the Chinese believe that either. They have a society to protect and if you can't live within the rules of that society, you should leave or suffer the consequences. We think they're to harsh, they think we're too soft...

Five more people were given suspended death sentences, usually reduced to life sentences for good behavior, said the Sichuan Zaixian Yitianfu newspaper

Apparently, nobody remembers a little USSR-published newspaper called "PRAVDA."

This state-run Chinese (read: COMMUNIST) newspaper reports only that which is deemed good for the brainwashed, oppressed masses. Chances are very good that:

a) Nobody was executed at all
b) Those actually executed were innocent and did nothing wrong...they were picked up off the street as "bodies" (The USSR used to do this all the time)
c) Those actually executed were in jail b/c of "crimes" having nothing to do w/drugs. Can you say "Scapegoats" or "Examples?"

Just MHO.

Ok everyone in every thread keeps suggesting leaving whenever you find somethign to be unjust. May I ask the address for the part of land not claimed by a nation and it's laws where I can choose how to live as I please? There is no such thing. Instead perhaps I should speak up when I see something wrong and not run away.

You people saying that we should adopt the same policy.. kill people who use drugs.. really need to have their heads examined..

I mean.. Excuse me?...

It is certainly not just to kill someone for a non-violent crime.

Christ, people. wake up.... :Q

the users are made to quit cold turkey..only the big dealers and distributors are being killed........

and yes we should adopt that policy for the big dealers and distributors, they are the ones selling the crap that kills tons of kids everyday, you will think different when you find your son or daughter dead from an overdose because one of these scumbags sold them this crap. being so damn soft and forgiving and thinking everything can be solved with some warm caring and loving therapy/counseling will be the end of us all. china will most likely be standing at the end, while we destroy ourselves because we're too weak to do what needs to be done.

You have a valid point. [Devil's Advocate] However, along those lines; look at what they do in the Middle East if you are caught stealing. They chop your damn hand off at the wrist...you won't do that again, now will you? Quite the deterrant, wouldn't you say? [/Devil's Advocate]

Yeah, I know.. Am just saying though.. I mean.. geez... That would be unreal. People would go fsking nuts just over the idea.. lol

It's my business what I put into my body, and nobody has the right to kill anybody just because they enjoy doing something. What about the legal drugs? lol.. The concept is just rediculous.. lol

It's not possible to control drug use(Well.. perhaps aside from killing people who use, lol..), so we may as well just stop fighting. I don't want to turn this into a drug thread, because we all know how they end up.. and we all know the different points of view.

Our war on drugs is what forces them underground, forces their prices up, and forces people to commit crimes when they don't have anymore. I would like someone to deny that, and show me otherwise... 🙂

Drug use was all but wiped out after the Communist Party swept to power in 1949. Dealers were shot and addicts forced to quit cold turkey. But drugs returned with relaxed social and economic controls in the 1980s
I kinda like how China deals with dealers and addicts, personally. It works, China's drug problems are a fraction of ours, yet it has upteen billion more people. They all but wiped out the opium problem years ago when the Army raided all the opium houses and machined gunned everyone. No more opium problem.

Knock that off. By "minor" we mean over 16, which would be an adult in those countries, particularly since a lot fewer kids live to be that old over there than they do here. We also have that thing called "due process" and "civil liberties." You aren't suggesting that criminals in Saudi Arabia get a trial by a jury of their peers, have a right not to incriminate themselves, and receive free legal counsel, are you? I hope you also aren't suggesting that they get at least two chances to appeal their convictions either.

that's how lawyers rip us off. Do you know how much money it costs US taxpayers to pay to execute a criminal? I wonder how much we spent on tim mcveigh. Death penalty is a waste of money and it doesn't act as a deterrent to crime. Tougher penalties doesn't equal to less crime. look at california :/
