Probably the lowest I've gotten in a long time. Only 11 miles left of my 515 mile range before I filled up

After about 450-500 miles I’m at 1/8 of a tank and then I fill it up. Not anal enough to constantly fill when it gets to half.

2 gallons from empty

Light comes on around 3

That's if I'm in familiar territory.
About the same for me although once in a while, I'll get a bit close to E (not truly empty as the car has a small fuel reserve).

One time after night shift I got into my car and the needle was practically at empty and I freaked out wondering how I let it go that far without noticing Was not sure what gas station would be open at that time and didn't have enough gas to start driving around so I took my chances are drove towards the one closest to my house, at least if I stall I don't have far to walk. Was like -40. They were open but their interac machine was not up and running yet, think they had just opened. So I went to the corner store nearby but their ATM was down as they had not come to put money in it yet I presume. So I asked if I can do cash back if I buy something but their limit was $20. So I bought a chocolate bar and took out 20 bucks and then carefully got as close to 20 as possible when gassing up without going over. 20 bucks of gas it not going to get you very far, but it at least gave me a bit of a buffer so I can go home and then when I leave for work I can go back to get more.

Let's just say that was quite a stressful morning lol.

Another plus for cash. It doesn't take more than a pencil and piece of paper to account for a transaction. No fucking net connection, no telephone, and no magic fairies in a box that make stuff happen. It Just Works™

Mine's in my pocket. Haven't used an ATM in... 15 years? I don't like depending on cards or machines to make it day to day. Magnetic strip(Yea, becoming obsolete) fucked up? No cheeseburger for you. Our link to the processor is down. You can't have that Tshirt. Power's out. We can't do anything unless you have cash...

Unfortunately, too many stores can't process sales without their computer-connected cash registers...and even if they can, too many kiddies manning those cash registers are too stupid to actually calculate sales tax or count change.

Are you one of those people who never lets it get below half a tank? Freak out once the light comes on? Squeezes every last drop out of a tank before finally driving or walking to a gas station?
there's at least 2 gallons of gas past 'E' in my car.
that's at least 60 miles.

I almost always try to fill at 'E' or a little below.
my times is too valu-able.

I fill up twice a week. I never let it get below a quarter tank, for safety reasons...you never know when you're going to get stuck in traffic or have an emergency & need the gas!

As long as I can get to the gas station before the counting get down to zero, in my current car it is 50km after light on. That is 30miles.

Totally empty. Our i3 Rex is coded so if we're going longer distance I burn off the gasoline first.

You people hate your fuel pump.
I routinely run my cars down to the low fuel light and I've never replaced a pump, I would guess that they don't get that hot so just a gallon or 2 should be plenty to keep the pump cool. Decent quality OEM pumps are not cheap, even for domestics and if you've got a GM, (I do) there is no access by removing the back seat, the tank must be dropped.

Usually around 1/8 tank. On a side note, I use cash pretty frequently as well and purchase gift cards from Kwik Trip and Costo. If you get a gift card from Costco you just need to swipe your gift card to pump vs. your membership card then your payment card.

Pro tip.
If you live in an area that is prone to emergencies, such as flooding, earthquakes, etc., keep some fuel in your tank.

Many, many people had to evacuate here recently for an anticipated dam failure. Gas station lines were wrapped around blocks and people were running out of fuel in the middle of the streets causing panic and traffic issues. It took my brother and SIL 4 hours to go 35 miles. And he had advance warning from me.

My TDI beetle doesn't have a pump in the tank. I wish it did, and may do that mod. I go till the light. It has more than a gallon of that point which is good for 60 miles.
My ram diesel truck has a low pressure lift pump in the tank. The light comes on with about 3 and 1/2 gallons left in it.I'll let it go to the light if I'm just around town. most of the time I'm towing a heavy trailer and I fill it up when it gets to 1/4.

Damn...I wish. F150 has a 36 gallon tank...and with gas prices here between $3.35 and $4.00, fill ups are over $100. 22 mpg ain't bad for for this truck though.

How da fuq are you getting 22mpg?!! Please tell me your secret! I have a 2014 Max Tow, and I was only getting 17-18mpg at best. I put on some e-rated tires because we tow our trailer and can't get more than 15mpg haha.

Gas is killing me though. Down here in the central valley, it was $3.92 last week. Cost me $100 to put in 3/4 tank for our camping trip.

I broke down and bought a 2003 corolla to commute in (70 miles round trip). Should see a big difference on my wallet.

Back on topic though, I drive till the 50 mile warning light comes on and then put gas in the tank.

I just try to maximize gas discounts at the local grocery store....but I also try to maximize my time. If I know I won't have time the next day or so to get gas, I hit them pumps.

Generally about 1/4 tank so getting stuck in traffic isn’t an issue. I do get closer to empty more often now that I live 4 miles from work though.
