How low can it go?

I remember a time when the whole of P&N used to hate G.W.Bush. Now you Americans have the current administration who has managed to G.W. Bush look like a saint compared to Trump's antics. Since history is doomed to repeat itself, I ever wonder if there will be a future president who in turn will make Trump look like a saint?

I'm curious on how low will it go?

As long as Conservatives maintain a minority rule, it will continue to go lower, with #bothsides commando's obfuscating facts and deliberately spreading misinformation while projecting their own failings on their "enemies" (read, fellow countrymen and women)

How stupid and greedy are people? There doesn't seem to be a bottom.

If it's someone even more incompetent than Trump, I suspect they really wouldn't last long even with Republicans trying to prop them up.

The greatest danger would be a President who has all the egocentrism, greed and maliciousness of Trump, but also the competence to back it up. Trump's idiocy is his one saving grace -- it prevents him from implementing his plans to their worst possible extent, and makes his harmful intentions transparent. A truly skilled Trump-like figure would give the Republicans what they really want, a one-party dictatorship.

Basically combine Trumpist beliefs with the competency of Nixon magnified with the now incredible powers of the executive branch.

Y'all have fun with that because I won't be here anymore should it come to pass.

I think we have bottomed out. The hippy kids from the 60's & 70's that have turned into full circle hypocrites will be cashing their last SS checks soon enough and will no longer have to worry about the brown people climbing our walls and flooding our cities with drugs and rapists...

The youngin's they spawned will crawl back into the woodwork just like their kinfolk did 60 years ago this time being relegated to chat rooms...

There is no place in America for their brand of hate any longer...

I don't want to presume the US' worst days will soon be over, but I do think the Republicans realize they're hitting a generational wall where their most reliable support is literally dying out. Between that and a more solidly Democratic millennial base and the GOP will have to make some serious policy changes if it's going to remain relevant in the coming years.

Right now it feels like we're in the last gasps of the Republican party as it has been for a few decades. It knows the majority of people are against it, so it's doing whatever it can to hold on to power before it's forced to either reform or sink into irrelevance.

I'm not sure it can go any lower than Trump

While Trump occasionally will mention some "beautiful" "wonderful" thing that he'll create for Americans, which is usually bullshit, I would vote that it's fair to say that the most common thing he does when talking politics is to bitch about America and say that everything about it is horrible.

"Make America Great Again" is basically a slogan of, "This place sucks".

I don’t think it can go lower in terms of competence and debasement of the country perspective but it can definitely get a lot worse than this.

Imagine if someone with the same level of criminality, vindictiveness, etc. we’re president but without the mental illness and incompetence holding them back.

I'm curious why so many Republicans keep insisting that any disagreements on policy issues and tactics must always be derived from hate. Must be projection, as they call people who don't agree with them as "un-American" and threaten to "send them back" even when they're natural born American citizens

I'm hoping that the Repub's voting Trump into office will be a hard painful lesson that they will never again elect a dysfunctional emotionally and intellectually crippled criminal as their president.

I think we've sunk to the lowest depths of humanity with the current sack of fetid orange flesh in the whitehouse. At least, that's the hope I'm holding onto. He's not the disease though, merely a very telling symptom.

I miss G.W. at least he was funny.

I don't. And he's a fucking dumbshit dickhead that was only funny because he's a bumbling backwoods dumbfuck that had no business being the President. His mere existence is the funny part. Fucking prick had the gall to say "I don't seem so bad now, huh?" after like a year of Turmp's shit show when he's a key step in getting to Turmp.

Plus, he's arguably worse than Turmp, as he's done most of the same horrible shit (I have repeatedly given him credit for trying to speak out against anti-Muslim sentiment after 9/11, so he has that, its too bad he still enacted policies that literally killed hundreds of thousands of them so I'm not sure he really deserves credit as actions matter more than words and Turmp hasn't done that...yet).

Hell Dubya's doofus demeanor likely enabled the horrible shit his Administration did. Don't forget he literally signed off on torture, literally helped force intelligence community to lie to stir up a push for a war that nearly broke our economy (when coupled with his other horrible economic policies) and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, and lead to millions more being displaced. As bad as Turmp is (and I think he's fucking terrible), it can easily be argued that Bush is worse.

Bush Jr vs Turmp really highlights the Sophie's Choice that Republicans have given us. Do we want the the hee-hawing doofus dipshit with a modicum of respectability or do we want unchained unbridled raging racist schizophrenic egomaniacal honesty? The outcomes seem to be more or less similarly shitty either way.
