How loud is the AMD stock HSF?

Just curious about this. Is it a screamer or is it fairly quiet? I don't think I'm going to be overclocking anytime in the near future, so that's not too much of a factor.

mine seems fairly loud(louder that i would like). i do not have any other HSF to compaer it to though so i do not know how loud it is in comparison to say a P4 stock HSF.

its not too bad. in fact, its better then most cheaper hsf's. my guess is that its noise level is around 30-35db

Quiet compared to the Vantec on my other Athlon. it runs at about 3k rpm fan speed where the Vantec is 2x that. But lets just say my power supply is louder than the AMD stock HSF.

Stock heatsink for what CPU? The Athlon64 stock units are totally different from the XP heatsinks (which there are many variants of).

They're definitely at least 20db quieter than the 92mm Tornado I have now.😉

hehehehe, i used to have 2 of the 80mm tornados, they kick ass

but hey, if you think our tornados kick butt, try this thing

My cousin has the stock hsf combo that came with the Barton 2600+, it's pretty quiet when combined with the rest of the fans, nothing too annoying, if I were him tho i'd opt. for a Zalman cooler.

Pretty average on my 2400+ -- I can sleep with it on.

I can sleep with my Black Label Delta (48db) on. 😀
I've modded mine to use a Panaflo (20-something db)... pretty nice.

Two amps, with three amp startup? I'd have to buy a new psu, and I already have a 480 watt Antec TruePower!😀

It's not bad. I recently did a build for a friend that includes the retail HSP from a 3200+ and it is not much louder than my vantec stealth.

i'm sorry but to me it is to loud.

If i can hear it from a meter away, then it is way to loud for me. And i can hear the stock HSF of an athlon xp from a meter away.

It is way to loud by SPCR standards.
