Yup, it's THAT load, even in a closed case it sounds like a little buzzsaw.

That's exactly what it sounds like. I have mine on 5v and it still sounds like a the low setting on a hairdryer.

I have no idea how load the fan actually is as I do not have one. However, as the name suggests, it is as load as a tornado. There is no doubt about that.

I was working on my brother's rig a couple weeks ago and my wife almost killed me because the Tornado on his X1800XL was so loud. When ambient noise is fairly low than it is almost overwhelming. Interestingly, I sat right next to my brother's rig at a LAN party and it didn't seem loud at all.
