I got a fong kai 320 case but i did not get a fan in the front. I thought my 80mm would fit but it is too small. How loud are 92 and 120mm fans? thanks

Depends on the fan. If you get some high CFM fans they can be very loud. Some of the Sunon's get up to the 44dba range. If you get Panaflow fans they are very quiet. The "L1A" model move about 68CFM and runs @ 30dba - very quiet. As a general rule the more expensive the fan the more likley hood it will be quieter.

Most places that sell fans also list their specs. As a reference I believe 24dba is a whisper, use that as a reference when thinking of the noise level. Also each 1dba is a power of ten louder.

If loud fans bother you I suggest getting some of Panaflo's quieter fans (as stated by ErikS). I got a 92mm and a 120mm to replace my 43 decibal 120mm in my FongKai320 and its quieter and better ventilated....(120 in bottom, 92 on grill infront of hd rack)

here's where I looked: Team AWE

good luck.

I have 2 92mm Sunons and one 120mm Sunon, among others and let me put it this way... When I turn on all of them at full power it sounds like a hovercraft is taking off in my room. If you don't like the noise all the time, I would reccomend building a 2 speed fanbus.

I have 3- 120 mm sunons in my case and a window unit, when both are going my, wife has to yell at me to get my atttention, I love it, it drowns out a lot of the peripheral noise that distract me.

Seriousely it is fairly loud until you get used to it

usually the noise is mostly caused by the airflow passing thru then vents in your case. it is annoying and i have 2 50cfm 80mm fans in my case.
they are rated 40db each. :|

what i recommend is you can cut the circular shape for your fan
after you cut a hole for the fan and put on a fan guard,
you can get higher CFM and the noise will not be so significant
