I don't think he'll get that long of a sentence, but I hope they send him to the worst jail for the longest possible amount of time, life if possible. What a nasty disgusting child molester.

As much as I would like him to get life behind bars, with zero communication to the outside world, he will probably get at least 20 years on the two child molestation charges, And likely another 10 for bigamy if he is found guilty on all charges.

Regardless of how long of a sentence he gets, the taxpayers will still be on the hook, supporting his many children...and maybe his wives as well.

They probably already were.
Many of the LDS offshoots are just giant welfare scams designed to drain as much as possible from the government without getting caught.

A couple of years ago some news program like 60 minutes or 48 hours did a skit on a mormon community. The community was off in the desert in the middle of nowhere, and something like 90% of the people were on welfare.

If I remember right, the community was built maybe 30 or 40 miles from a nearby town. The people would drive to the other town, get their welfare checks, buy food, then go back to their community.

The goal of the people were to be a financial burden on the government, kinda like peaceful protesting. But instead of holding up signs on the street corner, they are a financial drain on government resources.

I think I saw the same thing. I know I've seen it frequently reported that Utah has the highest incidence of white collar crime in the nation, as many Mormons have little or no restraint from conning us "gentiles."

The lyrics of Bloodhound Gang's I Hope You Die come to mind... particularly the part about Bowling Ball Bag Bob.

"Jeff, you're really going to dig your new roomie, ThunderDick. He's a fellow theologian too, been preaching the love from the Church of The Cornhole for years, let's hear it for freedom of religion!"

I saw a headline they had to listen to his sex tape. If I had to listen to that sicko banging a puber. I would sentence him to the max.

Since it is a jury trial I wouldn't count on anything. Look what happened in FL with the Anthony girl. I hope she has to hide for the rest of her life.

Back on topic, with Jeffs being his own lawyer he is doomed to some jail time. I'd hope for 20-30 years minimum.

Yea, but in the Anthony case the jury did not have an audio tape with the little girl saying "mommy it hurts, it hurts,,,,,, sound of crying,,,,,,,".

Read the article linked in the opening post. It reads like some kind of sick movie plot.

Forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but assuming he is convicted whatever sentence he gets is pretty much set by the federal sentencing guidelines. Those guidelines permit enhancing as well as mitigating factors, I would bet Jeffs has quite a few enhancing ones.

Jeffs is just another kind of Libertopian, guys, practicing the religion of his forefathers as it's been done since the 1840's. That has always included the coercion of young girls into sex & marriage at ages uncommon even back then. Back at the Ranch, it's still happening even as his trial goes on.

With "smaller govt staying out of people's lives" there'd be more of it, not less...

Scientology has been using the freedom of religion argument to get away with their criminal behavior for decades.

Update: guilty on all counts.

It won't fix anything, but based on what this bastard has done to innocent children, I hope he ends up in a cell with a very well endowed prisoner who makes Jeffs his "spiritual wife" .... often.

Jeffs said GOD will put a curse on the judge and everyone involved if the case is not stopped.

Are people "really" this sick, thinking they can molest children, and then claim its freedom of religion?

The answer to your question is obviously & emphatically "Yes".

It's not like Jeffs invented this behavior in the context of Mormon splinter groups. It's been going on for generations.

Yes I can affirm Double Trouble is right, ole Jeff got convicted by a jury of his peers.

And now that the jury has weighed in, now we can finally talk about the sentencing
without putting carts before horses.

It won't stop Jeffs from screaming about the injustices of it all, but at least he can't hurt any more underage children from the likely inside of a Prison cell. He can also appeal his conviction until he is blue in the face, but I doubt he will find any valid grounds for appeal. And thus will likely die in jail before becoming eligible for parole.

It may not stop any Warren Jeffs wantabees from following his example, but if they even try, they have a very clear picture of what is likely to happen to them. We have so many more extra jail cells to put them into.

There was a boxer that raped a woman and only got 8 years. Lets just say I do not have any faith in the courts lawyers and the proper handling and procurement of evidence. I could see this going to appeals and evidence being thrown out of court.

I agree that the court system is fubarred (OJ? Casey Anthony? etc), but the recordings of him coercing 12 year olds and raping them is pretty damning. I don't see any way he's going to get out of this.

In terms of the maybe justified Piasbird doubts about our court system, any appeals Warren Jeffs make could backfire on Jeffs and his follows.

Because Jeffs main defense is that he a religious right to rape young children. And if Scotus ever weighs in and somewhat unanimously says, you have no such right, it sets a precedent for the entire nation.

And the winner is life in prison. And I hope he has many forced husbands in prison. He will be segregated for sure.
