Ive got the system you see in my sig... wondering what you guys think will outdate itself first, or be the first bottleneck coming on newer games

i mainly game, and i also do 3d rendering, and CAD work

i think its my cpu that will have to go eventually...

when i next upgrade ill switch over to pci-e... likely when AMDs next set is out for awhile

HD im looking to buy soon when i get that moolah

Your GPU is going to hurt you the most, but you also only have 1GB of RAM, I think the processor will still be good to go for at least another year and if you run a divider I'm sure you could clock that Venice way past 2.0.

Well, a year give or take without some major revamps.

Few months change out your GPU, few months later get some Value Ram gig sticks, and like the above poster said if/when you feel comfortable you can OC your CPU some.

Agreed completely.

You should be able to bump that venice up quite a bit yet, which will help take the CPU out of the equation for a while yet. An upgrade to 2Gb of RAM down the road will help lots as well.

And yea, the video card will likely be your biggest issue. If I remember right, the A8V is an AGP board, but luckily the release of the 7800GS will help extend your life there. So yea, you should be good for another year or so :)

:p i dont oc lol so i wont be upping my venice at all...

when i do upgrade .. liekly a year from now

ill definatley be goin for pci-e / 2gb

i wont change the gpu before pci e ..

i did try oc'ing to 3500+ speed.. but that was by ONLY changing HTT speed and not lowering multiplier, or HTT multiplier w/e or a divider.. so if i do feel ALALLALLA i might overclock eventually

So agreed without upgrades it should last me another year? (ive had this for 6 months so far)

It's hard to know for sure, it just depends on software. If stuff starts coming out that heavily favors dual cores then no, you may not last a year. I don't think that will happen, but it's possible :)

I'd say this: If you don't want to upgrade now, don't. Just wait until you think you need to!

hehehe i upgrade when i start having to tweak LOWER than LOW like with my old FX5200 or when i cant run things that id like to..

also when money is in my possesion and opportunity arrives in gifts.. im lookin for my first job right now..

my old 2500+ lasted me 2.5 years, with two graphics upgrades from GF2 -> FX5200 (waste of money) .. then later i got the 6600GT AGP to make up for it .. then since i had spent a good deal of my own money on the 6600GT i didnt upgrade to pci e at my last full upgrade session

How much noticable increase will i get with a SATA hd that im lookin to get?
i know for sure it will help me in BF2 cuz that rapes hd's... and for increased performance with rendering cuz that uses alot of virtual ram as well as physical
