If you cant find something in your town/area, its called move, dude. People do it ALL the time. Just because someone in BFE Montana cant find a job doesnt mean the government is BS'ing about a decline in unemployment. If he doesnt want to move thats his choice. Yes there are some areas in the country that have depressed job markets. Almost all over them are unpopulated areas. Theres no job shortages in any major cities(except in IT feilds).

They obviously arent looking hard enough, anyone that wants a job can find one. They are just being picky. Besides I know people in construction and theres always jobs.
Nice ASSumption, but you are pretty mistaken, if you can land my buddy Rusty a job up in Boseman he would be very happy as he's got 2 kids to take care of, the other 2 are both single but have mortgages to pay for. They are doing $h!t jobs on the side to keep up, but there is nothing Perm in their fields AT ALL

where is Boseman

The Big Dig is a far, far bigger project than any concievable WTC reconstruction effort. Things are pretty sucky here in MA.

Many people move if they cant find a job. It's part of life. Even if you are married and settled down. I know a family where the father is in consulting in <EDIT> software development</edit> and lives in different cities every couple of months, while his children are going to college from home. Sometimes when the situation is bad, you have to make sacrifices.
