Yep, my favourite subject (snore). Runs at 50 with the heatsink on properly. I checked it. Bought it in March. Stable but won't the high temp shorten its life? Still, last another year please.

ONE MORE TIME ... at 50C, your CPU will last a long time; a life time for any electronic components! Most silicon processes that CPUs are built on doesn't age that fast if junction temperature is kept below 100C (this translates to somewhere between 70-80C ambient assuming normal airflow).

I saw some guy run an athlon 600 at 60 or 70 something without a HSF! :Q I don't know any of the details though, so I'm not sure exactly what he did.

I had my 600 duron running a 892, 1.65v...but it kept crashing in dues ex, so I decided to bump the voltage on my A7V to 1.70v. so I pop the top, change the jumpers and away we go. while windows is loading I get a page fault in explorer.exe....reboot....windows startup hangs...reboot....disk I/O error on A:...reboot....video bios then nothing....shutdown and stare at if for half a minute...boot....get bios, go to hardware monitoring, cpu temp72.5c,74c,75... look at cpu fan and notice it's not pluged in.

moral of the story: I'm an idiot.

LOL Wes. :)

My bro has a k6-2 400 that's been running between 50-60c for 3.5 years. 50c is fine.
