Anyone know if applying for a raise in your credit card limit and being turned down will hurt your FICO? I think it probably will but don't know for sure.

Depends on if they pull an inquiry to make their decision. If they go by internal scoring only, probably not.

If you apply for an increase in your credit limit, they will most likely run a credit check and yes this will hurt your score a little. But double check with them, because as cougar said, it is possible that they may give you an increase based solely on your payment history with them.

If you have been turned down for credit, you can get a free credit report from the company that the decision was based on. You can also pay and order a report. These standard reports don't include FICO scores. You have to pay extra for a score.

I'd suggest going to http://www.myfico.com/
You can get your Equifax report along with your FICO score for $12.95.
You also get a FICO simulator that estimates what your FICO will be at some future time depending on different behaviors like paying all bills on time for 6 months, getting a new car loan, etc. It's not perfect, but might give you some idea of how fast you can improve your score.
