How long will Champagne last?

Have had a bottle of some Moet Champagne in my fridge for a long time. Kept saving it for a good occasion but never really stumbled across one. 🙁

Just curious how long a good bottle of bubbly will last if kept refrigerated? Planning a special evening tomorrrow and thought about opening it but was concerned about it tasting bad which won't make a good impression.

Life after uncorking or before?

Definitely before. Once she's corked, she won't won't last long enough to even make it back in the fridge. 🙂

Good point SampSon. 2005 was one crappy year for me but I'm still breathing so I should have opened up already. But tomorrow will be a good occasion since I can share it with someone I care about.

Just drink it already. You'll know as soon as you uncork it if it's any good or not.

Edit-If it goes pop and the cork flies across the room chances are it's fine. If you get a slight pop or no pop it's sh!t.

Vintage or NV?

NV. Less shelf life I'm assuming?

Yes, but it can still be good for a year to a few years, depending on the brand and how well you control the environment (ie a wine fridge or cellar vs. regular fridge).

Think you kind of missed the point. I have a guest coming over that I'm trying to make an impression on. I wanted to ask about the shelf life before I popped the cork and have it taste like crap while looking like an idiot. If it were just me drinking it, then I wouldn't really care.

I'll probably just give it a whirl and if it's bad, I'll say I just bought it and must have been a bad bottle. 😀
