ATm the highest seem the 3400, do they plan to make a bigger one soon?I know you got s939 and s940 processor, but the ratio qualit/price atm for those s939and 940 processor just isnt worth it.

So im wondering if i will be able to upgrade higher than 3400 in the future

Thanks

The price now for 939 is so reasonable now, I got a awesome combo at Newegg.com for a total of $288 consisting of the Athlon64 3000+ 90nm, and the Soteck Mobo socket 939. Now I know that maybe these's first generation CPU's might not OC as well, but hey you gain things like a future proof socket, and dual channel. When I invest in something I get what I know will take me a longs way and right now the socket that gives you that promise is the 939. I would go with that instead.

i would either go for a s754 solution right away or go for a s939 when the nforce4 boards come out.

How long will AMD continue S754 processors?

as long as they have mobile vendors. mobile = s754 only. there will be no 939 mobile chips, so as long as their are Athlon 64 notebooks there will be s754.

Make sure you wait for the second revision of NF4. The first revision does not support 5x hypertransport. (if it's useful to anyone)

It's so cheap who cares? Besides I hav'nt found decent 939 mobo or I'd already have a system up!

I don't know how you can beat this 754 64-BIT BUNDLE from mwave.com
AMD ATHLON 64 2800+ RETAIL
FARCRY PC GAME
CHAINTECH VNF3-250

$206.00

That's cheaper than most pentium and 64 chips let alone the whole shabang.

Right..

SUNNYVALE, CA -- August 17, 2004 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced today that it is achieving a smooth transition to 90 nanometer (nm) manufacturing and has shipped low-power 90nm Mobile AMD Athlon? 64 processors for thin and light notebooks (previously codenamed ?Oakville?) for revenue. Manufacturers are expected to launch systems based on the new 90nm Mobile AMD Athlon? 64 processors in the coming months.

In addition to providing performance and power benefits to AMD64 products today, the transition keeps AMD on track with its plans to deliver 90nm dual-core products mid-next year and also provides operational benefits such as increased production capacities.

Dont worry, 754 has been around, and will continue to be around for awhile. But currently the quality of the 754 overlaps the 939s, but for sure after awhile, the quality of S939s will start to show and they will pull away.
