That is the prob.. i dont have enough budget to buy a good psu.. and i guess d local one cannot handle the 5770.. but it can handle the 7750.. and they have almost the same performance.. mayb 7750 is 2-3 frames behind.. so a factory OCd 7750 shud be good enough rite?

If you gave enough money for a new graphics card, get a psu

Here are some of my gameplay vids using an AMD A8-3870K without a discrete GPU

Mass Effect 3 (DX9)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x24CzW0mzt8

Lost Planet 2 (DX11)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTofPjiZqV0

Resident Evil 5 (DX10)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ncc1pB2yWc

All of the games are run at 1280 x 720. Graphic settings are shown in the start of each video

If HD 6550D (Llano IGP) can do gaming at 1280 x 720, I'm sure HD 7750 can do a lot better

If you will tweak the graphic settings, I think an HD 7750 can also run games at 1600 x 900 with playable frame rates / frame times

I play at 1440 x 900 with a 9800Gt, which is slower than the 7750 by a bit, and with an E4500, which is slower than your CPU. I dont play really demanding games though. I can run Skyrim at high settings with a few tweaks. I also have played Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare and several other games at med to high settings. You might have to dial down settings in something like Metro 2033 or BF3. I havent played those. So you should be good for now. I cant say what the requirements will move up to when the new consoles come out though.

However, as others have said, it would be more cost effective in the long run to upgrade the power supply and get a better card. I have a weak power supply, and bought 3 or 4 upgrade cards as better ones came out which could use an OEM 300 watt power supply. I would have saved money in the long run to have upgraded the power supply at the start, got a better card, and not have to have upgraded so often.

No matter which gpu you get don't run a local PSU. And forget about an oc with a local PSU, just too dangerous. Get a high quality Corsair CX400ish or something. In which country are you?

Im in India.. where a 6850 is for 9000 INR and 7750 is 6500 INR.. a corsair CX400 will cost me around 2500 INR.. so buying a better GPU along with a psu with my scholarships is really difficult.. and my parents wont give me any money as they believe that things like GPUs are useless.

I understand man, gone through all that.

Get a used 58xx or 57xx card with a used psu worth 1.5-2k. Within 7k you can get a used 58xx and used corsair psu

CX500 will be enough. don't buy GX450. Even CX420 or so something be fine, corsair tho, not talking of any other CX series :)

Your PSU is fine for stock. It should be able to run 7770, flawlessly. You can always upgrade it later, if you need more juice / better overclock, though.

I would get the CX500 but go no lower than that. its best to have plenty left over for future upgrades or maybe transfer the psu to another build later.

But he is on a shoestring budget with a budget of sub $150 for gpu plus psu in a country where prices are at least 20-30% higher. So he needs to figure a setup within 120usd equivalent of newegg

are you talking to me? he already asked about the CX500 so yes he should get that and not go any lower. again thats a lot better for long term use than getting something weaker.

corsair 430 watt is more than enough. You guys need to quit it with suggestions of higher power PSUs when he's already on a limited budget.

By the way, I run an overclocked 7970 with a six-core CPU and various drives, fans, etc. on a 460 watt PSU. Any decent-quality PSU (and the Corsair 430W is of decent quality except it's not the quietest and the fan may not last as long) can do the same.

OC'd (but stock voltage) 7970 + CPU + mobo/RAM/drives/fans/kb/mouse/other USB devices = 400 watts in a worst-case scenario where literally all of them are maxing out at the same time. That almost never happens so the realistic max peak draw is less, and the max sustained draw is probably more like 360 watts. That's well under the Corsair's 430 sustained wattage maximum.

AGAIN the OP asked between those two psus so I said get the CX500. there is no point in him trying to save 10 bucks less to go look for something cheaper. a power supply can last for many years and can transfer to another build so its silly not to go ahead and get the CX500. it allows plenty of room for upgrades, some overclocking and even the fan will not have to work as hard.

Why are you so determined to change your PSU, now?

You can always do it later. Are you scared to fry your computer or the one you have is playing up? :whiste:

I have plenty of 70% efficient PSUs in my computers, running absolutely fine.
