Worked at a restaurant that had a fire (complete loss) and no one thought about checking the freezer until a week later. Everything was still frozen solid. Granted it is a commercial grade freezer but you get the idea.
we had the power go out due to a storm. we had a small freezer full of meat. when power finally came back on i opened it to check in on the meat (was going to have a BBQ with what was thawed)
I know when my sis lived in Guam, they'd get power losses due to typhoons. She told me her upright freezer was good for at least 3 days, oftentimes 4 or 5, as long as no one opened it. Even then, half the stuff was frozen still.
This. If the power isn't back in 2-3 days, buy as much dry ice as you can with that limit in NC, and then fill the rest with bags of ice; it'll keep for a few more days.
