How long until Bernie quits?

Bitek

Lifer
Another Tuesday primary, another electoral beatdown.

Bernie got knocked the F out in FL. He even lost to Bloomberg in some of counties with high elderly vote. Biden will put up over 100+ delegates over Bernie

He lost AZ and IL as well. Basically mathematically eliminated. Losing every demo except youth vote.

Soo... What's the point in going forward?
Especially with the CV outbreak and Trump's mishandling of it.

Bernie's only real reason to stay in the race is to try and win concessions from Biden. That's not unreasonable, since while he's losing he's still got a big chunk of delegates under him. Biden already embraced Warren's bankruptcy plan, so I can see him using one of Bernie's policies.

Status quo Joe hasn't embraced anything, he is just doing exactly what he needs to do and say to get enough votes to beat Trump, and if he gets in he will do the bidding of his rich benefactors and maybe throw a bone or two along with some crumbs to Bernie/Warren supporters if doesn't trouble his backers too much.

Joe Biden to rich donors: "Nothing would fundamentally change" if he's elected
ormer Vice President Joe Biden assured rich donors at a ritzy New York fundraiser that “nothing would fundamentally change” if he is elected.

Biden told donors at an event at the Carlyle Hotel in Manhattan on Tuesday evening that he would not “demonize” the rich and promised that “no one’s standard of living will change, nothing would fundamentally change,” Bloomberg News reported.

He'll go forward because of the young people that have invested so much time and energy into his campaign. It would betray them to stop before they even have a chance to vote for him. He's an old dude, I'm sure he'd just as soon go home and not get Coronavirus, but he has too much integrity to do that.

If only Bernie was 20 years younger... His time is not now, next time or maybe next... doesnt matter he has ignited the flame... young blood is coming... that is if you manage to get the orange turd out before he installs Moscow2.0 in America.

Biden wasn't my first choice, voted for Bernie here in NC, tho if it came down to Biden or trump, Biden it is.

That guy sounds like an idiot. Like a lot of people on twatter.

Anyone who wants another 4 years of Trump just to spite the moderates is a fucking moron. He's packing the courts with right wingers. He's a heartbeat away from making Mike Fucking Pence president. He pushed through HUGE corporate tax cuts.

Donald Trump polled horribly all the way up until the day he got elected president of the United States.

Why quit when you're running against a guy with dementia? You hold out until the bitter end hoping the guy does something that the voters can't ignore. Something that will force Biden to drop out due to health reasons and in this case, actual health reasons.

I don't know who is doing Bernie's ad buys, but if he's doing it as he's done in the past, he's already made a shit-ton off of it and there is much more to be made. Typically, 20% of the ad budget goes to whomever places the ads. In the past that has been Bernie's wife. If you ever wondered why so many people are running for the Presidency, now you know. Remember the huge field in the last election on the Republican side? This kind of bullshit is not party specific.

And it's all perfectly legal. It's a good thing to be the person making the rules.

We’ll see if Bernie learned any lessons from 2016. If he decides to stay in the race, then fuck him. If he drops out, then he’ll still have my respect (as if that means anything).

No, hopefully Biden and the establishment learned something from 2016. This incessant Bernie Blaming is stupid.

This, however I want it to stay classy. Don’t do Donald Trump re-election work for him for free.

Looks like the voters are sick and tired of politicians who demonize and look to bring others down, and are looking for a leader who can bring Americans back together and encourage us to lift each other up.

Sounds like any of the several times in the last 2 weeks when the markets dumped because Trump opened his senile mouth. Or like when Trump's campaign bought 100k copies of Junior's book, blatantly laundering a few million dollars in campaign donor funds right into their pockets.

Maybe the solution is to stop having a President who thinks he's above the law, don't ya think?

Actually I retract my previous statement. There's no reason for Bernie to keep in the race. If he wants concessions he needs to get them now as if he keeps losing states by margins of 10, 20 or even damn near 40 like in Florida his position gets weaker and weaker.

Yeah, if Biden pulls the kumbaya come together bullshit if he wins I hope someone slaps him right there at the podium. The message should be clear if the Dems manage to maintain the House, win the Senate and win the WH: "Republicans can get on board with our policies or GTFO of the way. If you even think about filibustering we will nuke it right then and there."

Returning to the status quo would still be a massive improvement, especially in light of the Trump admin mismanaging and downplaying the coronavirus outbreak.

Please understand: the only morally acceptable choice in the November election will be to vote Democrat. Do anything else and the US, indeed the world, will suffer more from Trump's damage. It's unfortunate that Biden won't rock the boat, but we can deal with that after we restore basic concepts like "respecting science" and "telling the truth most of the time."

With the looming Trump-McConnell recession, Trump's policies will cut carbon emissions by more than Obama's policies ever did.
I'm sure there are more effective and more appropriate ways to combat climate change than sending most of humanity back to the stone age.

Green Party is looking attractive this year.

For me, the problem with voting for the Green party is that there will never be 3 viable parties in the country, so it's really a symbolic vote, and that's fine, but I think it's the worst of 3 potential symbolic votes, the other two being writing in Sanders, and leaving the ballot blank for president and voting for down ballot races.

What we saw in 2016 is that everyone just added Clinton's vote totals to the Green Party vote totals and concluded that if Stein hadn't "split the vote" Clinton would have won. As hilarious as it is to watch that, they really are dumb enough to believe it, so they're not learning the right lesson. It's a similar issue with writing in Sanders, in that case the assumption is that anyone writing in Sanders is a fanatic who would never vote for anyone else anyway, and that's not really true, I'd vote for any progressive. Another problem with that is that Sanders is widely expected to endorse Biden, and at that point he's dead to me as a candidate, would never vote for him again if he betrayed his platform like that.

So that leaves the last option - not voting for president and just voting down ballot. I think this is the right way to send a message. Neither candidate is acceptable, the end. Your symbolic vote gets aggregated with principled voters of other political stripes as well, it's not like the Gary Johnson / Jill Stein thing last time.
