How long since your last defrag?

I picked "Whats defrag?" because it's been considerably longer than 6 months....

I just defragmented my hard drive last week. Before that, it had been a few months.

I use Norton Speed Disk with Windows 2000 and FAT32.

Well, I defrag my drive every week or so or after installing large programs. I use Norton Speedisk and it works fast. The bad thing was that when I OCed the CPU and upped the PCI to 40 MHz when defragmenting I got a message 'Hard drive internal error. You must reinstall Windows'. And guess what? I really had to reinstall b/c it wouldn't load Windows no matter what!

Every couple of weeks.

I just did a fresh install of XP on a friend's Compaq today, then loaded Office and a bunch of other programs. I had defrag analyze the disk after loading all this stuff and it was massively fragged.

After defragging I did notice programs opening faster... :::shrug:::

It's something I should probably do... but then again, I've only got a few gigs of data on the 30GB OS drive, and the other drives are 100GB+, and that would take just way too damn long...

I have 4 HDs and the stuff that gets shuffled around a lot are just data files that don't affect my system performance so I can live a few months of heavy usage without noticing any difference.
