once or twice since Jan. 11...only to install a differnt DSL modem, a stick of 256 and a Matrox g450...all in the same hour or so.
W2000 rules !
98 se ,on my other drive, goes a few days without problems. It takes SERIOUS registry tuning.I chased evory error message HARD for over a year to get it this way. I will not add, upgrade or DL to my '98 anymore.

Probably ~12 hours. I like to keep updating/trying new drivers for everything in my system to optimize it for performance/stability/capability. If I wanted my system to stay up the longest, I'd buy the most stable/supported hardware out there, but that wouldn't exactly make my computer "cutting edge." Such an example is my Linux system. It only gets rebooted if I make a configuration change and want to be sure the change was saved and is still present upon bootup.

my work machine ( PII 400Mhz /w 256MB running RH 6.2 ) has been up since April of 2000 ( only few weeks to 1 year anniversary ). As far as my home machine goes, I shut it down for nights due to excessive fan noise.

My wife's arch-nemesis gets "killed" every night [by my wife]. Locked up on me last night while winDVD was trying to play a DVD...first time locking since I built it in Nov 2000. Just re-installed winDVD and it is all good.

Uh, I turn the dumb thing off every night. Makes no sense to me, to leave it on. But then I don't leave a couple of hundred watt light bulbs burning all night long in the basement either, just don't make sense.

I reboot everyday as I am leaving work rather than loging off. I use Webroot's Window Washer to tidy up the Temp Internet Files and Cookies folders. They are cleaned when you boot. There is no reason not to reboot atleast once a week to free resorces for a standard desktop computer. R.

<< My friend is so obcessed with keeping his resources free he reboots his 98SE machine at least every hour >>

You do realize that with a 300W PS, you use more power turning it on than you do leaving it on for 24 hours? True fact...I do turn mine off, because first off, I don't pay for the power, and second I think it stress's the system less and things last longer. The CPU supposedly has been said to "last longer" being left on all the time because its always warm and doesn't get cold/warm/hot/cold/warm, etc. I have no idea whether this is true, nor am I standing by it..just some crap someone made up most likely :)
