How long since you last (re)installed your operating system?

About 10 days ago for my gaming desktop.

For my HTPC/server when I got the parts which was around a month ago or so.

Both running XP Pro SP2. I am thinking about putting Server 2k8 on my HTPC, but wanted to put it on an old system first to play with it.

I try to reinstall Windows once a year and with every major hardware change. Tonight I am building a brand new system, so that will start the countdown over again.

A few months ago. Went from XP to Vista 64-bit. I generally do a O/S re-install once every 2 or 3 years (about the time I start upgrading my machine).

I still have a ghost image from '06 that I could've applied but fresh installs are like fresh showers. Some here like them, some here don't.

I installed Vista Ultimate 32 this past July. Before that, the last install I did of XP Pro was about 2 years ago when I upgraded my hard drive.

My home computer - 2 months ago when I bought my 4870.

My work computer is from: 11/21/2005, 10:48:31 AM - One week after I got hired at my job, I decided I couldn't use the messy ass XP install they gave me.

I've moved this XP install over 3 computers...painfully reinstalling motherboard drivers, etc. each time. If I ever had to start with a "clean" installation at work, I'd die.

A few days ago... I "upgraded" from Vista Home Premium 32-bit to Vista Home Premium 64-bit

There's a PC here that controls the lights. It's a P200 (no mmx) with 64MB ECC EDO RAM with a 4GB Micropolis SCSI drive running Windows NT 4.0 Worksatan with a 1GB C partition. Folder creation date is April 29, 1997. It has Netscape Navigator 3.01 gold installed which cannot render most of the pages now.

Oh and to give you an idea of its aweseome ancient-ness it has a 4Plex CD drive that takes CADDIES!

But it still turns the lights on and off! :laugh:

My last two home computers? Never! My old gaming box is still running it's original XP install from 2002, and my new one has been running Vista since early 2007.

I replaced the Windows 2000 build on my old work laptop with Windows XP, but that was a LONG time ago.
