Yup. what is the stat on moving in together before your married?
For what they're worth here are some. I dated my husband for exactly 4 weeks before we got engaged and knew him for 4 months before we got married. No living together, but statistically, with that short a courtship, our marriage should not have lasted. Fooled them!
"Bennett, Blan, and Bloom (American Sociological Review, 1988, Vol 53: 127-138), "Commitment and the Modern Union: Assessing the Link Between Premarital Cohabitation and Subsequent Marital Stability."
The point made by the authors is that, overall, the risk of divorce after living together is 80% higher than the risk of divorce after not living together, which is already too high. In other words, those who live together before marriage are almost twice as likely to divorce than those who did not live together. But they also point out that the risk of divorce is even higher if you don't live together more than three years prior to marriage. The longer you live together prior to marriage, the less the risk of divorce until after 8 years of living together, when the risk of divorce is equal to those who have not lived together. "

CDC's National Center for Health Statistics report statistics based on interviews conducted in 1995 with about 11,000 women ages 15 to 44.
"It found that the probability of a first marriage ending in separation or divorce within five years is 20 percent, compared with the 49 percent probability of a pre-marital cohabitation breaking up within the same time period.
After 10 years, the study found, a first marriage has a 33 percent chance of ending compared with a 62 percent chance for cohabitations."

"Past studies by the National Center for Health Statistics released in 1997 showed that of the couples whose marriages resulted in divorces within five years, a higher percentage had lived together before they exchanged rings."
"Also, a study done by National Survey of Families and Households in 1992 found that couples who cohabitated before marriage are 46 percent more likely to see their marriages crumble."
