I've made a backup of UT with CD Clone as an image file to my hard drive. Thing is, it took HOURS to do this. Is this normal? This is with a SCSI Plextor 8/20, 933 PIII 256 mb

I've successfully backed up my original UT Game Of The Year Edition CD without any problems. I don't think there's any copy protection on that CD so your copy just might be scratched or damaged. Copy protection and errors slow recording the image file down badly.

I'm pretty sure that my version of UT has copyright protection on it.
And it's surface is clean. I'll try another game that doesn't have CP on it, see what happens.

Make sure you check "Fast error skip" Or it'll take forever.

On my buddy's plextor 12/10/32 ide it took only an extra 20 seconds to blow through all the errors.

On my Toshiba drive it takes about 5 minutes, about 15 on my 8x (reading) burner, and on my current CD Rom it takes about an hour and a half.

Soo.. check that box and hope your drive supports fast error skip.

Hey thanks for the tip,I'll have to try that. I did burn some games that came free with my TNT2 Ultra, they copied in minutes. I'm sure there is some kind of trickery on the UT cd even though it still copied ok.
