I have deadbeats, the acution ended Feb-12-02 14:10:54 PST. There were no replies to my emails untill I sent the Non-Paying Bidder Alert to him. That got me this:

HEY, sorry it has took me some time to get back to you,i've been away with work, i'll get the money shipped out to you this week ,NICE1

That was on Tue, 19 Feb 2002 18:57:31 EST.

Its not a big ticket item, but this dude is most probably a deadbeat. He has 3 negatives already. By next Monday or Tues I can file for a Final Value Fee credit and give him more neg feedback. Should I wait more though? Deadbeats really piss me off for some reason. eBay gets there money immediatly and this sucker is jerking me around. The total commission was only around $2, but I posted the pics and auction for nothing.

what do you all think? The money still hasn't gotten here. thanks

send him one more email
wait 3 days
then relist and leave neg. feedback
make sure you do the deadbid bidder refund thing
once he gets 2 or 3 complaints he get booted

i've done this a lot

My suggestion as a seller with feedback in the thousands: don't bother to leave any feedback. This fool can turn around and leave you a bruising negative which may or may not be true at all. Ebay will not assist in getting it removed if they say something untrue, like "Sent payment, he cashed it in and stole my money!". If your feedback level is not that great, the negative on your end will affect you far more, especially if this idiot has little feedback to begin with. They can just make a new account in seconds.

I've got a couple negafeedbacks among my hundreds of positive feedbacks...I'm fairly sure most buyers don't look too unfavorably on 1 or 2

Yes, he might retailiate if you leave him negative feedback by leaving you a bad rating also. I would just suggest you file with Egay for the refund on the auction item as a non-payment from buyer. That way, eGay can deal with him and you get your commision fee back.

You're right, but if you can avoid the negative at all costs, then so much the better. Especially if the negative you received was in retaliation for a buyer with 0 feedback (or less), as they will just ditch their account and make a new one -- you've been wounded all for nothing.

Thanks for the advice, I have 140 pos feedback and no negs. He has 2 pos and 3 negs already. I will get the commish back from eBay and probably won't bother leaving him a neg. Why do these idiots bid while never intending to pay?!?! At least it was a cheap item. thanks again, oh yeah, how many of you cancel a bid from a bidder w/a suspect feedback record? Do you state in the auction text that all bidders w/shadey backrounds will have their bids cancelled? Where do you cancel a bid on one of your auctions? thanks & whats the html syntax to post a link to my feedbacks in my sig?

You don't need to state any policy about cancelling bids. Ebay gives you the full right to do so without making this statement in your auction post. When you cancel the bid, there is space where you type in a brief explanation. Make sure to add the user to your blocked bidder list as well, as merely cancelling a bid still allows them to bid again -- if you don't do this, you may find these fools putting in a last minute bid, totally screwing up your auction. But I wouldn't go around banning all new users who make a bid either as a considerable amount of them are real buyers.

I would do exactly as vegetation has stated. Egay doesn't give a squat about correctly outright bogus evaluations. As long as they get there money, that is the bottom line. I would email him stating that you will consider this null and void 3 days hence. Contact Egay about the credit, relist and leave it at that.

A weird eBay story, doesn't relate to yours all that much though except in the "how long to wait before leaving negative feedback". I won a bid on an input device (MS 3D Pro), had a couple of quick emails back and forth to the seller then paid the day after the auction ended. Received an email back confirming payment and shipment of the device soon after. Then the waiting started, finally after 3 weeks I sent repeated emails to the seller asking for a tracking number, and just generally not being very "understanding" of WTF the problem was without a reply. I finally gave up after about a month or so, ~$50 bucks = cheap life lesson. I wasn't as concerned about the money as I was the 3D Pro, as they were already very hard to find in an unused condition by then.

One day about 4 months later or maybe even a bit more, I receive an unexpected package from USPS. I didn't have a clue what it could be by this time, low and behold my 3D Pro shows up out of the blue. No explaination letter, no email, nothing except my controller. LOL I've always kind of wondered exactly what happened in that 4-5 month time frame, the only thing I can figure is either A)eBay starting cracking down on this person for doing it multiple times, or B)They were hindered by a family illness or something of similar importance (in which case I feel kind of bad about the nasty emails...haha).
