My VMU just died after only 2 months of life!! It didn't seem like a big deal, just get a new battery, then I open it up and find it takes 2 batteries, I go to the drugstore next door to these batteries are $3.49 each!!!!

This is rediculous, I've never even taken the VMU out of the controller. Did I just get unlucky or are others having these problem?

I guess I should probably just get a regualar 4X memory card...

maybe 2 months with average use, but no need to worry about your game saves, they are not erased when the batter dies out.

I haven't brought new batteries yet, and refuse to. I'm not taking the damn things anywhere.

yes, once plugged into the controller it should be getting is power provided by the dreamcast.

I at least still get images on the vmu screens when in the dreamcast, and my 4in1 vmu is till holding memory and its not even plugged in anymore.

Its got to be some type of nvram being used, such that power isnt requires to save the memory state.
