Question How long run memtest?

I've found only a few references here about how long to run memtest on a modern system like Ryzen. I've found 4 times, over two nites and 20 times. Previously I'd run 24 hrs? and at least 4 passes on older systems.

Yesterday on a new Ryzen build memtest86 ran 3.5 hrs off usb and stopped itself, saying something about 4 times. No errors. Should I run it longer? Any reason to run an additional mem appl? I've heard of HCI memtest.

Finally, any recommendations for an appl that checks all mobo functionality?

Thank you,

Linux tools;
Run complex system test is probably a lot better if you want motherboard testing

Memory checks are a good indicator of a one-level stability, but multi-level stability, you'd want different interconnects simulated with software and complex CPU tasks with software. Not all software tools will pick up hardware issues.

Another good way for stability checks, is to load a blank Win OS and then keep 15-20 different pieces of software all running together, and let it sit for one 168 hours (1 week), no standby on idle.

Hey thanks for the tips. Think I'll give the phoronix text a try. I read you can just load a MS OS and check device manager for ports, usb hub, etc. but that sounds pretty elementary.

Don't think I could even find 15-20 appls to run even if I had the patience to test for a week but good to know.

Cheers.
