I'm on "Follow Freeman" after about 10 or 11 hours. Get your ass moving, save the world quicker :p
(I have no idea if you're meant to be saving the world, still haven't figured out what's going on).

well, taht really depends on the player. this game isnt simple like doom 3 where you can just rush things asap. hl2 requires a LOT of skill and logic and such. it can take a good player 20hrs for example, and an unskilled player 50hrs.

Read the finished game thread, it's taking people 10 hours.

And i pity such people. I'm trying to take it slow, and see everything. If you beat the game in 10 hours you just rushed through it, which with a game like this, at least to me is retarted (and doesn't affect e-penis size 0.o)

It took me about 10 hours, and I didn't try to rush through it just to finish. I played the game as I would any game. I went after most bonuses I could find too (hint - always look for the half life symbol - shows places with crates of stuff).

The game certainly was very enjoyable. Just too short imho. See the end of game thread to know more thoughts (didn't want spoilers here).

I wouldn't agree on that. I couldn't see how it'd take anyone 50 hours to play the game. Only way it could is if they're a novice and decided to play it on hard first go (I played on medium and it took about 10 hours). It's really quite a short game - HL1 was much longer (and much better for storyline imho).

i guarantee you that some people will never be able to finish the game. i have several friends who are as dumb as a doorknob when it comes to common sense and using resources for this game. even on easy or normal, some of my friends dont even know what to do.

I can't believe people are calling the game short. Sounds more like boasting than anything else to me. Every review I've read has said around 20 hours, which is great for a modern FPS. About the 10 hour thing, I still find that hard to believe. I've played probably 13-14 hours so far and am still only towards the end of chapter 12. I haven't been stuck at the same place for more than 3 tries (that was earlier in the game with turret placement). I just can't see beating the game in 10 hours at what I would call a leisurely pace.

About 15 hours. Beat it in three sessions.

Session one: 7 hours, from beginning to end of Buggy level.
Session two: 5 hours, to Nexus doorstep.
Session three: 3 hours, to end of game.

On Normal difficulty.

If you read the FiringSquad review, it says it's about half as long as the original.
