Pull up a command prompt and type "systeminfo" and hit enter. Share what your "system up time" is.

Mine so far is.

System Up Time: 18 Days, 20 Hours, 37 Minutes, 53 Seconds

EDIT:

Try doing it by clicking on start then run and typing in cmd and clicking OK.

Then type in systeminfo and hit enter.

For some reason, I am using XP and it won't work.

My lab laptop has been up for 11 days, 5 hrs, 8 minutes, 15 seconds.

My home computer has been up for about the same amount of time.

I restarted both on the same day due to windows XP updates.

xp doesnt let me

I'm on XP MCE and it works.

Did you press windows key + r, then type cmd, press enter, and then type systeminfo and press enter?

those who run xp and have their comp run more than a week dont get the automatic updating feature turned on?

If XP doesn't let you it's because you aren't typing "cmd" pressing enter and then typing "systeminfo" and pressing enter.

7 Days, 7 Hours, 8 Minutes, 20 Seconds

just about 6 hours here, i take my laptop home with me every night. my home computer gets restarted every sunday, not for any specific reason than old habits

I've been hibernating a lot lately, but XP Pro says that it's been up for 2 days, 23 hours, 38 minutes, 14 seconds. I had restarted my computer because I upgraded the RAM in my computer, so before that, it had an uptime of at least 20 days (but not 24hrs/day, hibernation pauses the system uptime clock).

My work computer - 104 Days, 2 Hours, 25 Minutes, 16 Seconds
I recently started turning off my home computer each night.

Holy Crap you actually let Microsoft install whatever updates they want on your computer? I think the only company that might be a worse idea with is Sony.
