The U.S. government has known about WMD for quite some time. Once the inspectors got kicked out of iraq in 98 and the WMD program could start churning untouched, it made perfect sense to develop some type of plan to oust saddam to get rid of the threat. This is not a video game.

Edit: and rest assured we have invasion plans for North Korea as well as we did with the USSR during the cold war Even if the U.S. never intends to invade NK. It would make perfect sense to have every contigency thought out.

War has been "on the cards" since 1991. We halted the war in 1991 upon Saddam's statements that he would disarm. The threat of war has been used to "enforce" this disarmorment for 12 years, it is just that we are now acting upon it.

Do people really think that we've been building up troops in that area for a year without a plan? Jeez

Jesus is this stupid or what? You plan for war regardless of whether you are actually going to go to war. The real source of the plans for this war go to the Chicken hawks that surround Bush and their doctrine of a New American Century circa 1996. We anve been going to war since the opportunity to hide the real reasons presented itself on 9/11. That doesn't mean the military was aware of it. They would have had to plan if war really was only an option.
