How long for USPS Delivery Confirmation number to show up in online database?

How long does it typically take for a USPS delivery confirmation number to appear in the search engine at www.usps.com?

I have a package, supposedly in the mail, and the guy sent me the number around 4:30, but its still coming up that there isn't any record of that number in the database.

24-48 hours, if you had it scanned at the PO, if not it may be scanned when they deliver it.

It takes a very long time. 24 hours minimum or even longer, as some post offices will only batch upload the numbers to the database at the end of the day, then you have to wait for the refresh which takes a long time (don't know what crap system they are using)

Assuming you mail during the beginning or mid-week it should show up within 24 hours. Otherwise if you mail Friday, Saturday or before a holiday it may take 48-72 hours.
