I never planned on taking out loans, but due to current life situations it seems like a decent option. I just applied today, but wondering how long it'll take for any money to hit my account. (assuming things go good)

First week of the quarter at my school if you had filled out the FAFSA and confirmed the loan by May.

I've gotten private loans during the quarter, and received the money within 2 weeks. Not sure if Stafford runs the same way.

I've never applied for a loan on short notice. For us, we had to get our financial aid applications completed before the start of the fall semester that we wanted to get aid in. I guess they had a three week leeway maybe and then of course you aren't billed until later in the semester too.

3 years. you're fucked.

No, really...iirc, it should hit by the first week or two if you made the deadline with your FAFSA.

Well I filled out the FAFSA for 08-09 back in August. I just never applied for a loan because I didn't plan on needing one. My life situation is changing though, and while I might not "need" a loan it would make things a lot easier. $10k would easily last for my 2 years left.
