how long does sun burn usually last?

Do you have blisters? If so, I would say about 2 weeks. If not, probably 1 week. Put aloe on it and you will probably be avoiding shirts for the next week, but the worst of it will be over in a few days.

If you get burned and get ALOE on it ASAP as in, within a few hours or at least the night you were burned, getting aloe on there will make it feel much better and heal faster. I usually keep applying aloe after it dries (the non-medicated stuff) about every hour when i first get a burn.

Depends how long you were in the sun and how pale you are. I am a bit pale compared to a beach junkie, and I was in the sun on a very bright day two and a half hours a couple weeks ago. The next day I was extremely red. It took about five days for the pain to go away and the skin to start peeling. Peeled for about a week. Just use aloe if you can, and lotion after you shower. Don't force it to peel off to early.

I've got very fair skin, I cannot tan, just get sorta reddish. After 2-3 full days or so, from a moderate burn, the worst is over for me. There's still tenderness in the shower with hot water, but not to the point that it hurts a lot to move, and sleep.

The people recommending aloe aren't joking.

There is no better burn-treatment substance known to man.

Well, maybe if they can synthetically make the stuff in aloe or something.. lol
