If its been in the fridge it should still taste fine ... on the counter it might be on the nasty side.

Red wine should not be served chilled nor should it be kept in the fridge.

Um, if somebody likes it chilled why shouldn't the drink it chilled? Who cares about what is traditionally correct.

Although most types of red wine have a much fuller & richer flavor at room-tempeture, if you prefer to drink them chilled that is of course up to you.

Much to many wine-snobs chagrin theres no "wrong way" to drink wine provided you enjoy it! :)

5 weeks! Get ready to pucker! You are going to be drinking a nice alcoholic bottle of vinegar. Like others said it won't hurt you or anything but you might find it mighty hard to stomach. The wine we make at the local "you brew", very low quality mind you, only lasts a day or so after being opened. Starts to get really acid after that.

If I open a bottle, it mysteriously disappears within twenty hours.

True story. I had a bottle of wine sitting around, open, for about 5 hours once. Age didn't seem to affect it at all.

so i drank the wine.

it tasted weird but it wasn't to the point that is not drinkable. no taste of vinegar was noted. I was able to finish the bottle this time around. most important of all, i did not get sick whatsoever.

i will be starting another thread about choosing the right cheese for your wine since i bought some apple smoked mozorella to go with the wine and they didn't work well together.

You might want to look into box wine. This way you can have a glass or two and not worry about it going bad. There are some very good wines being sold in boxes these days.
