Takes from 15 minutes in the middle of the night or mid-day on a weekday, to up to/over an hour going either way durring rush. Total time from door-to-door is ually about 50 minutes.

BTW, it's about 5.5, 6 miles away.

2 miles. Either 4-5 or 7-8 minutes depending on the day of the week and time of day. (I know the traffic lights all too well in my area, so I always know how to catch the wave of greens.)

My dad works 30 miles away. And he takes side streets the whole way because the 57 is the only freeway coming out of OC and it's packed! I say 30min to an 1hr on a bad day:|

I know cause I worked for him one winter.

3 miles straight shot from home to work. It takes me 8 minutes to drive if there isn't a train in the way, or 14 minutes if I have to go an extra mile to get around the train. I also take the bus a few times per week and it takes 25-30 minutes (when wife has the car).

Mine is the worst... :( :( :(

Usually it will takes me around 1 hour 30 minutes to get to work. I am around 32 miles away from work.
50 minutes drive to the subway station, then 40 minutes subway to work.

I can't drive directly to work, because my workplace is located in Boston, and parking is extremely expensive, so I parked in the subway parking lot instead, which is 2 dollars per day + 2 dollars of subway back and forth.

OUCH!!!!

Luckily, this is just an Internship for 4 months, after that I will be going back to school! :)

About 14 miles away. 18-40 minutes depending on the traffic(and how late I am ). If it gets longer than 30 minutes on average to get to/from work, I'd probably move. I consider the time spent on commuting to/from work to be the biggest waste of time in my life.

I live about four miles away from where I work, and I bike. It usually takes me ~10min to get to work. It actually takes longer by car.

2.5 miles..if all the lights are green, about five minutes. If traffic is heavy, maybe ten.

40 minutes each way for a distance of 26 miles each way.

Edit: That is leaving my house at 5:15 AM. If I tried it at 7:30 AM it would take over an hour.

20 miles each way

it takes from 20 minutes to 1 hour (when there is an accident on the freeway) each way
i normally avoid rush hour, so i figure 30 minutes average

I walk 15 minutes to the bus stop, then wait 5-10 minutes for the bus because it never comes at a regulard, predictable time. Then the bus ride is 10-15 minutes, then a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to work.

So I'd say about 40-50 minute commute.

Used to live 5 miles from work. Took about 15 minutes on residential roads.

Now I live about 20 miles away, takes about 30 minutes mostly highways.

I moved further away because close to work was boring. New place I live at has over a dozen bars in walking distance. Old place had like two.

I have friends who live over an hour away (45+ miles) and I question them on their choice. But hey, they want to live at the beach and so they deal with the commute.
