How long does it take to learn C++?

Nah, he handed it over to the ANSI committee years ago. I bet even he doesn't understand it all anymore.

Anything coming out of any committee is unable to be fully understood.:cool:

I think a better question, and one I'd like to ask would be... How long does it take to learn C++ or another "in demand" language, to become "marketable" as in know enough of it to have a GOOD CHANCE of getting hired for an entry level programming job/internship with NO PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE in this field?

Catch 22. You need a couple projects under your belt to remove the stench of academia.


Because you have none, you need to sell design experience and potential to those that can tag you as a gopher for a development team.

If you buy a bood for C++ and then go through the whole book and try out every practice program you might gat an idea how everything works. You cant just read a book and understand it. By actually rewritting the programs you can get enough knowledge to begin to understant how it works. Then you will know enough to start actually modifying and creating your own call structures.

I've found this book to easy to read.
"C++ Primer Plus" - I am still reading the 5th edition.
