How long does it take to burn a proc

I connected the waterblock to my processor but there was no water through it at first. When I fired the system up, it took it a minute to get the water through block and flowing without a problem. Would the copper waterblock keep it from burning up without water if the system was not on for more than 30 sec?

That is where my problem lies. I posted in the motherboard section abut the comptuer not posting. Here is the post. This question was more of a general question for my own troubleshooting purposes.

naa i would say you need to run that thing at least 5 to 10 minutes before the cpu burns out. If you are overclocking, I would say 2 to 3 minutes is a safe margin.

But there is no way that it burns out after 30 seconds. The cpu is idling when you post, its not really under stress.
