Damn, Luke must grow up pretty quick if the Death Star was still under construction in episode 4.

yeah because the force ran strong in his family. His father had it, he had it and his sister had it.

I think that its pretty weak how they had that the end. Althought since it is the size of a small moon, i'm sure its not built in a day.

Yeah, that is weird.

The part Death Star shown in Episode III was constructed in the time between Episode II to Episode III. However, it takes 20 years (the age of Luke Skywalker in Episode IV) for it to become fully operational. However, the second Death Star was almost fully constructed in the time between Episode IV to Episode VI. There seems to be a large discrepancy in construction time for the Death Star.

Well since my thread on Star Wars was crapped on and locked. . .

MOVE YOUR THREAD TO THE OFFICAL STAR WARS THREAD CAUSE WE CANT DISCUSS POPULAR STUFF HERE!!!!!!!

Really, I don't care at all - Forums are to discuss things.

It looked like the frame was together on it, didn't it?

Hmm, I'm guessing about 20 years - isnt that about how old Luke was?

Again, why didn't obi wan off annakin while he had the chance??!

And why did the Jedi council go down so freakin easy? I mean if they were that weak, who would wanna be a Jedi??? It seems like there could've been more drama than just a bunch of Jedi stabbed in the back. . . Et tu Brute?

However old Luke was in Episode 4 is apparently how long it took.. wouldn't that be right since it had just become operational?

Well it's a lot easier to build something the second time around, since now you know what you're doing.

Perhaps, but the second Death Star was much more powerful than the first. They didn't build an exact duplicate.

In EPVI, when Luke and Leah (sp?) are on Endor and Luke tells her he's her brother: doesn't Leah say something to the affect of having remembered what her mother looked like? How can that be if mom died during child birth?

Maybe she means her adopted mom?

LOL, I just put in the EPVI DVD, Chapter 27:

Luke: Leah, do you remember your mother? Your real mother?
Leah: Just a little bit. She died when I was very young.
Luke: What do you remember?
Leah: Just images really. Feelings.
Luke: Tell me.
Leah: She was very beautiful. Kind. But sad. Why are you asking my this?
Luke: I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her.

SO, they were born at the exact same time. One remembers what mom looked like. The other has no memory of her!

Additionally, the Empire was still being put together, having just formed. I imagine once you've got your regime going full steam it's easier to just force materials and labor to your need.

I believe Leia was referring to her adopted parents (as she didn't actually know she was adopted), whereas Luke was an orphan from birth and knew the people who raised him were his aunt and uncle.

There's nothing that says that they couldn't have been building BOTH Death Stars at the same time. The construction of the second Death Star could have started a few years after the first one, so the design was more advanced.

Leia remembered her adopted mother, not Padme.
