I subscribe to Equifax's service to monitor my credit history. My colleague has the same thing. He recently bought a house and was telling me that his mortgage account still has not been shown on his Equifax page after 4 weeks. That got me curious, so I looked at my Equifax page. It turns out that any alerts are normally out of sync with what my current accounts have.
For example, my American Express had a $130 balance, which I paid off when my paycheck arrived two weeks later. A week later I get an alert that my AMEX balance increased. That's a little bit late in my opinion.
So, what's the use of Equifax if it doesn't have updates soon enough (less than 2 days)?
Someone can probably just apply for a mortgage using your stolen info, and you would not know about it until much later.
